Taylor & Sangster Lecture: Creation, Rejuvenation and Future of Botanic Gardens

The Friends of Wombat Hill Botanic Gardens invite community members and garden enthusiasts to a special Taylor & Sangster Lecture on Thursday 7 August at 5.30pm, to be held in Stanbridge Hall.

In 1884 the Daylesford Borough Council commissioned the eminent nursery men and  landscape designers, William Taylor and William Sangster, to lay out the Public Gardens. The Friends of Wombat Hill Botanical Gardens celebrate their contribution to the Gardens with an occasional lecture series in their name.

This year’s lecture will feature John Hawker, renowned horticulturist and a long-time friend of the Gardens and the Friends group. John’s deep knowledge of historic and botanic gardens—along with his warm connection to Wombat Hill—will make this a memorable evening.

This event is expected to draw strong interest—please RSVP by 1 August to Friends Secretary Denise Robinson at lake.dc43@gmail.com All are welcome to attend what promises to be an informative and inspiring evening celebrating the heritage and future of our beloved Gardens.
