20 Years of Action – Rising Tide 2025
This year marks the 20th anniversary since activists first took action to force the closure of Newcastle Harbour, which was at that time, and still remains, the world’s biggest coal export port. The protest lasted 5 hours before it was broken up by police. The people’s blockades continue annually with Rising Tide.
In November this year a group of 30-40 Central Victorians from the Central Vic Climate Action group (CVCA) are heading up to the Newcastle Port to take part in this year’s People’s Blockade.
Join the group in association with Rising Tide, on Sunday 14th September 4pm for a screening of the film Rising Tide: Turning the Ship at the Radius Art Gallery, 76 Main Road, Hepburn Springs.
The film documents the inspiring 2024 People’s Blockade. Members from Central Vic Climate Action will be present for a short Q+A after the screening.
Tickets can be booked through the Rising Tide website under events. https://www.risingtide.org.au/pb2025
