DFNC also announced its netball head coach for the 2022 season, appointing Carly Post to take the helm at the Bulldogs.
Carly lands at Victoria Park from Bellarine Football League powerhouse Geelong Amateur. Carly is stepping into coaching after an impressive playing career at the Ammos, including six-straight grand finals appearances and an undefeated season this year until it was cancelled due to the pandemic.
Daylesford president Carson White, said that the appointment was incredibly exciting after the club, especially after it was unable to field an A Grade side in 2021. “We are thrilled to have Carly join the club as head coach for 2022,” said Carson. “From the first meeting, we knew she was going to be a great fit for Daylesford. She quickly understood our vision and this aligned perfectly with how she wanted to coach and contribute to the club.
“Carly has wasted no time and has been quick to start recruiting and building a new A Grade team as well as planning the summer pre-season program for the squad. As a president, it’s a great feeling to have locked in a key coaching position in the club for the following year, now.
Carly has a strong business background and is keen to contribute in other areas. She has PR experience which will be invaluable, particularly around promoting events.
Carly said it was a tough decision to step away from Queens Park, especially after an unfulfilled final playing year, but felt like the time was right for a change of scenery. “I have a special connection to this town, said Carly. “My family actually ran the old Belvedere Hotel for a couple of years when I was a kid and I completed Prep at Daylesford Primary School. I also got married here. I have been thinking about reaching out to the club to get involved for a number of years and it just seemed like the right time.”
“I’m looking forward to getting stuck into it and working with the incredibly passionate group of people at the club who have set such great foundations. I want to help to channel some of that back into Daylesford’s senior teams.”
Daylesford will be holding a meet-and-greet and fun fitness session on December 16 at Victoria Park for returning players and new recruits. Anyone interested in trying out is welcome to come down.
