The Daylesford Show committee, in consultation with the Victoria Park grounds management team, decided today to cancel the horse competition at the Daylesford Show this weekend. Unfortunately, the committee is unable to reschedule this event.

After taking into account the current state of the showgrounds, due to the recent very heavy rainfall, it was clear that the grounds would not be safe for riders or horses. They also concluded that the current state of the showgrounds meant it was not suitable for parking heavier vehicles such as a horse floats and towing vehicles.

The sheep, goat and poultry competitions have also been cancelled. The Dog Championship has been postponed to another venue on a date and venue. Details will be announced when arrangements are confirmed with the organisers.

The Daylesford Show is still going ahead. There are fee activities, including children’s races, a puppet show and music, along the Showmen’s Guild Sideshow Alley. There are also competitions in photography, homecrafts, flowers, farm produce and garden produce.

Show organisers are working through the refund process for exhibitors in cancelled events and will be in touch in the next few days.
