A helping hand from Daylesford is making its way to families devastated by the catastrophic floods in Nepal.
Daylesford Rotary has donated $1,100 through ShelterBox to help provide a family shelter package following the devastating flash floods and debris flows that struck Nepal in late August.
The disaster caused widespread destruction, leaving families without homes and essential belongings. For those affected, having somewhere safe and secure to live is an important first step towards recovery.
The ShelterBox family package provides much more than a tent. It includes a multi-room family tent, thermal blankets, solar lights, water-purification equipment, cooking utensils and activities for children — practical items designed to help families regain some security and dignity during an incredibly difficult time.
ShelterBox is a Rotary-sponsored organisation, supported by Rotary clubs in Australia and around the world. Its teams and partners are presently on the ground in Nepal, working to provide emergency shelter and essential supplies to families affected by the disaster.
Through this donation, Daylesford Rotary is proud to play a small part in that international response.
Our thoughts are with the people of Nepal who have lost loved ones, homes and livelihoods. We hope this contribution provides one family with shelter, comfort and a little hope as they begin to rebuild their lives.
