Indigenous Literacy Day was the September 1st and Daylesford Rotary had planned to hold a Great Book Swap to support the work of the Indigenous Literacy Foundation. But COVID and the latest lockdown restrictions got in the way and the event was postponed until restrictions ease.

The Indigenous Literacy Foundation aims to make a difference to the lives of Indigenous families by gifting thousands of new, culturally appropriate books with a focus on early literacy and first language and by running programs to inspire the communities to tell and publish their own stories, in the languages they choose.

You can support Daylesford Rotary’s Great Book Swap and the Indigenous Literacy Foundation even in lockdown. Go through your book shelves at home and set aside books that you are prepared to donate when the new date is set. You can also make a tax deductible donation at https://go.greatbookswap.org.au/daylesfordrotarysgreatbookswap.

And keep an eye out once restrictions lift for the new date. Come along and swap a gold coin for something new to read.
