New netball Head Coach, Carly Post, has had an immediate effect on the Daylesford FNC side. In their match against cross-town rivals, Hepburn, the Bulldogs side was victorious in an emphatic victory 40-17.
Hepburn did not lose a match for the entire season in 2021 and were unlucky that finals were cancelled due to COVID restrictions. Daylesford did not field a team in A Grade last year. The move to A Grade and the upset win over heavily favoured Hepburn has buoyed the Club.
DFNC president, Carson White said, “it was a great win for our A Grade side and given we did not have a team last year, even more amazing!”
In football, the Daylesford and Hepburn senior sides battled for the Bill Malone Cup. After a tight first quarter, Hepburn seniors kicked away to win a spirited and high-scoring match 19.14-128 to 11.9-75.
The Malone Family vote on who they judge the best player on the ground for both teams. Andy McKay was judged winner of the Bill Malone medal for his dominant play through the midfield and up forward.
In other footy action, Hepburn Reserves (10.4-64) defeated Daylesford (6.6-42). Kyle Yanner kicked 4 goals for Hepburn; Tom Powell kicked 2 for Daylesford. Daylesford Under 12s had a good win 4.3-27 to 1.1-7. After playing in a tie last week the Hepburn Under 15s were eager to get a win on the board and defeated Daylesford 13.4-82 to 7.7-49. Hepburn U18s were too strong winning 16.16-112 to 7.7-49.
