Hepburn Shire Council has awarded $25,320 to support community-led projects in the latest round of funding through its community grants program and local groups were very successful.
Daylesford theatre company, Lab Kelpie, will receive $2,500 to further develop Reasons to be Invisible, a new play for primary school children by Katy Warner. The project was commissioned by the Australian Children’s Theatre Foundation and supported by Regional Arts Victoria, who will tour the work.
The Hepburn Netball Club will receive $2500 for installation of tiered spectator seating a the netball court at Laurie Sullivan Reserve.
Daylesford Riding for the Disabled will receive $2,270 for safety equipment and a new saddle.
The Bullarto Hall will receive $2,500 toward new equipment and the 5000 Club will receive $2000 toward their weekly community luncheons.
Mayor, Cr Brian Hood, said that it was gratifying to see such a diversity of recipients in this round of grants. “Council’s community grants program aligns with our objective to support the strength and resilience of the community. This funding makes a big difference to community groups when it comes to purchasing much-needed equipment or delivering a project,” said Cr Hood. “There are so many local groups doing wonderful things for our community and Council is proud to support them.”
The Community Grants program has finished for the 2022/23 financial year. A new program of community grants will open later in the year.
