This year’s State government indexation won’t cover the increased cost of service delivery, claims the Daylesford Neighbourhood Centre. The Centre is part of a campaign urging the Victorian government to increase indexation to meet costs.

Neighbourhood Houses Victoria shares the deep concerns of the Victorian Council of Social Service, that the State Government is preparing to offer social service organisations an indexation rate that is less than the rising costs of delivering services.  In real terms, this represents a funding cut which will impact all social services which receive State Government funding, including neighbourhood houses.

Neighbourhood Houses Victoria is concerned that this inadequate indexation rate could result in job losses and cuts to services throughout the neighbourhood house sector.  This would have devastating consequences for the approximately 200,000 Victorians who visit neighbourhood houses every single week.

The Daylesford Neighbourhood House is urging everyone who has dealings with their local neighbourhood house to contact the Minister responsible for Neighbourhood Houses, Luke Donnellan, and voice your opinion. There is a Word template on the NHV website which you can use as the basis of a letter. If you share these concerns, please feel free to distribute it far and wide among your networks.
