Council is developing a 10-year Masterplan for the Glenlyon Recreation Reserve.
The Reserve includes a pavilion and sports oval with a synthetic cricket wicket, cricket training nets. There is a playground, barbeque and picnic facilities, camping grounds and public amenities. It features the fascinating Biolink Track which travels through the valley alongside the Loddon River with informative signs about the area’s history and ecology. An equestrian area is used by the Glenlyon and District Pony Club and Daylesford Riding for the Disabled. A wood chopping area features in the Glenlyon New Years Day Sports and a shooting range is used by the Glenlyon Field and Game Club.
The reserve has a Heritage Overlay of Local Significance.
The Masterplan will inform the future planning, provision and enhancement of the reserve.
In 2019 Council engaged a consultant to develop the Glenlyon Recreation Reserve Masterplan and a working draft Masterplan was developed after undertaking an initial community engagement. However, the Masterplan project was paused in 2020 to resolve an issue of land contamination caused partly by lead shot used by the gun club.
The Masterplan development will recommence with community engagement in October and November 2022.
The community is invited to contribute to the development of the Masterplan at drop-in sessions to be held at Glenlyon Hall. The first session in on Thursday 3 November 2022 from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm. The second session will be held on Saturday 5 November from 9:30 am to 11:00 am. Bookings are required for these drop-in sessions and places are limited. Book through trybooking.
A community survey will open in November. For more information about this project visit the Participate Hepburn website.
