The Daylesford Dharma School has received a grant through the Community Climate Change and Energy Action Program. The Program funds upgrades for heating and cooling, insulation, shading, glazing, lighting and renewable energy installations such as roof-top solar and batteries.
The aim of the program is to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and improve energy efficiency at the same time making community facilities cheaper to run and more comfortable year-round.
Other successful recipients were the Trentham Golf Club and Riddells Creek Neighbourhood House.
Local state government member, Mary-Anne Thomas, congratulated the winners who are “ensuring a more sustainable future for our community and our kids.”
A further $1.8 million in grants is available in the next round of funding which opens February 17. Sustainability Victoria is offering grants to support community groups to build climate resilience and for community repair, re-purpose, re-use and recycle projects. Social enterprises, not-for-profits and community groups can develop smarter ways to use resources with grants of up to $250,000 available through the Recycling Victoria Communities Fund.
