The Community Bank Daylesford District has agreed to continue its sponsorship of The Wombat Post for a further three years.  The sponsorship package is $2,500 per year.

Acting Chair of the Bank’s Community Investment Committee, Carol Ross said, “We are pleased to continue our sponsorship of The Wombat Post for a further three years.  Over the three years since its inception, The Wombat Post has established itself as an important source of local news and information, averaging over 3,000 page reads per week.

“Commercial newspapers have largely left smaller communities such as Daylesford/Hepburn and so it has been left to volunteer groups such as The Wombat Post to become the voice for the local community.”

Hal Swerissen, President of the Daylesford District Community News Association, which publishes The Wombat Post, said, “The Bank has been central to the survival of The Wombat Post over the past three years. We are an entirely volunteer organisation and their sponsorship enables us to cover most of our essential expenditure for insurance, web hosting and web domain.”

“I know from editing stories submitted to us how important the Bank support is for the many groups that make up the lifeblood of this community,” said Wombat Post editor, Tim Bach. “We hope we can continue to be a voice for the community and to spread the good word about what makes this community so vibrant.”

The Community Bank continues to support local not-for-profit groups and community organizations. Recent sponsorships have included Hepburn Springs Golf Club, U3A Hepburn Shire (University of the Third Age), the 5000 Club and support for new Laundry/Shower facilities at the Daylesford Neighbourhood Centre.
