Honeytones Choir Returns for Term 4

The well-loved Honeytones Choir Group is back at DNC.

Group singing is a great way to express yourself and to connect with others. Studies show that it provides a multitude of social and health benefits.  As a choir, the Honeytones Choir sing in a range of musical styles, working together to bring songs to life.

If you’ve always had a yen to sing in a choir, or if your family is just sick of hearing you sing in the shower, this activity is for you.

Membership of the Group is for anyone 15 or over.  No singing or note-reading experience needed!

Cost is $100 for the term and sessions commence on 7th October.

The clinics are open to children aged 10 and under (between 4-5pm) and 11 and over (between 5-6pm).

The cost is a $2.00 donation at the door.

Container Deposit Scheme

Don’t forget, you can help DNC deliver support to our community and help our planet by nominating us when you recycle your bottles and containers.

Do you have bottles and containers that you can recycle? DNC would like to work with you and would be grateful of your donations.

We have recently signed up as a Donation Partner with the Container Deposit Scheme.  This means, we can accept donations of refunds from anyone who wishes to donate to a charity.  Next time you have a few bottles to take to the recycle station, if you would like to donate your refund to a local group, you can now select DNC as the recipient.

To send your donation through to DNC:

  1. Download the CDS VicWest App from the appstore
  2. Search Charities in Searchbox and select DNC
  3. Once you have found the DNC page, scroll down and click on the SET AS PAYOUT button!
  4. At the recycle station, scan your barcode at the scanner, pop your bottles in and that’s it!

Simple!

If you are part of a local group and would like to support DNC with your refunds, we would be very grateful of any donations and happy to chat to you further if you would like to do something officially with your group.   We can help with flyers etc.  Just call us and we’d be happy to work with you!

Changed Hours of Business for DNC

DNC has changed our reception hours.  Our new hours came into effect from Monday 26th August.

Mon – Thurs 9am-3pm
Fri Closed

As always, room hire bookings will still be available after hours with a code, so if you currently have a room hire booking, that will not change.

The new hours may or may not affect you, but if you have any questions about accessing or leaving the centre during or after hours, please make sure to contact us on 53483569.

We don’t believe this will inconvenience your activity at the Centre, but please do let us know if you have any concerns.

DNC Joke of the Week

The financial situation had been very bad for several months.  Because he was out of work and destitute, a young man decided to rob a bank.  After days of observation, he chose a small bank facility across the metropolitan area from where he was living.  He spent several days planning every move.  Late one dark moonless night he picked the lock on the rear door of the bank without difficulty.

He stealthily crept through the bank to the place where he knew the safe stood.  Then his troubles began.

While trying to pick the lock on the safe, he set off the burglar alarm, but his careful preparation paid off.  He had brought along a furniture dolly.  He quickly loaded the small safe onto the dolly and rolled it out to his van.

He drove to a friend’s house and explained his problem.  He asked if, in exchange for some of the loot, he might store the safe in the friend’s garage for a few days.  His friend assured him:

“You can rest assured, your safe is secret with me!”

[If you’ve got a better joke, (and doesn’t everyone??) send it to  admin@dncentre.org.au  and we’ll publish it. (Remember, this is a family publication! 😊).  We’ll even include your name if you wish – or you can protect your anonymity!]
