The Daylesford Men’s Shed was pleased to hand over a large size chess and draught set to Central Highlands Rural Health (CHRH) last week. The sets will be used by its clients of CHRH.
The chess and draught pieces were made using CNC (computer numerical controlled) cutters and routers recently purchase by the Shed with grants from the Daylesford District Community Bank and Hepburn Shire Council.
CHRH representative, Taletha Rizio, was on hand at the Shed and was very pleased with the finished product.
Work on the project was the culmination of the efforts by many of Shed members led by CNC experts Brian Murphy, Larry Lawrence and Ken Ferguson.
Men’s Shed President, David Robertson said “This was an excellent project for the Men’s Shed as it involved many of the members and produced a real community benefit. The relationship with CHRH is strong and and growing “
David highlighted that the introduction of CNC and 3D printing had provided a great stimulus to many in the Shed who were incorporating these technologies into the own projects.
