Council is seeking community feedback on a masterplan to improve Central Springs Reserve, a popular destination for locals and visitors, located at the southern end of Lake Daylesford.

The masterplan seeks to create a long-term plan to upgrade and improve the site. It incorporates feedback from a community survey conducted earlier this year.

Mayor, Cr Lesley Hewitt, said the masterplan includes a range of improvements to the well-loved reserve. “The masterplan shows how we will improve the appearance of this important location, with better paths, furniture, plantings and connectivity,” said Cr Hewitt. “One of the key aims is to improve access in and around the reserve so it better caters for older
people or those with accessibility needs,” she said.

Other improvements include:

  • New carpark that meets Disability Discrimination Act (DDA) requirements
  • Improved paths around the reserve and to Lake Daylesford
  • Elevated walkways to provide viewing opportunities and protect important vegetation
  • DDA compliant toilet
  • Improved setting of the mineral spring pumps to improve access, functionality and presentation
  • Open shelter which reflects the relationship of the site with Traditional Owners
  • Information signs about the mineral spring pumps
  • Broad timber platforms under existing trees for groups and individuals
  • Indigenous plantings.

“Whether people are meeting up with friends, doing some exercise, or just relaxing, we know that Central Springs Reserve is a lovely spot to visit. The works outlined in the masterplan will make it an even better place to spend time,” said Cr Hewitt. “Thank you to those who provided feedback on the reserve earlier this year. We invite everyone to take a look at the proposed masterplan and let us know your feedback,” she said.

To view the plan or so submit feedback, visit the Participate Hepburn website. Submit your feedback by Sunday 1 August via the website or post your submission to Hepburn Shire Council, PO Box 21,
Daylesford 3460 VIC.

Once the masterplan is finalised, it will be presented for consideration by Council at a future Council meeting. Council will seek government assistance with funding.
