Hepburn Shire Council is inviting expressions of interest from passionate and suitably experienced community members to join the Heather Mutimer International Women’s Day Advisory Committee.
This important committee plays a key role in overseeing the Heather Mutimer International Women’s Day Honour Roll—a prestigious local initiative that recognises and celebrates the outstanding achievements of women across the Shire.
Each year, in celebration of International Women’s Day in early March, the committee helps Council honour up to five women whose leadership, innovation, and advocacy have made a lasting impact in their fields and communities. Since its launch in 2005, the Honour Roll has grown to include a diverse group of women who are advancing gender equity and driving positive change in Hepburn Shire.
“We are looking for diverse and experienced individuals to join the committee that oversees the Heather Mutimer International Women’s Day Honour Roll,” said Mayor Cr Don Henderson. “Celebrating the achievements of local women is just one of the ways we can continue to combat gender inequality and ensure their contributions are recognised and remembered.”
Council is seeking individuals who can demonstrate:
-
A strong interest, knowledge or understanding of women’s rights and gender equity;
-
Direct links to local community groups and/or organisations;
-
Experience and/or understanding of the purpose and function of advisory committees.
The Honour Roll seeks to recognise women who:
-
Advance gender equity;
-
Exhibit strong and inclusive leadership qualities;
-
Share their skills and knowledge with others;
-
Foster sustainable change within their communities;
-
Contribute creative, unique or innovative ideas or initiatives.
Being part of the Advisory Committee is an opportunity to support an important local tradition that aligns with the values of International Women’s Day, which is celebrated globally to acknowledge the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women, and to call for continued action towards gender equality.
Expressions of interest are now open and will close on Friday 30 May 2025. Interested applicants are encouraged to read the Terms of Reference before applying online.
