Danny Liversidge

Goodbye and Thanks

After six years at the Daylesford Neighbourhood Centre (DNC), our Manager Danny Liversidge is leaving. He has decided to launch himself into the big wide world and is stepping aside from the Manager’s role to pursue all the things he’s wanted to do, but never had the time!

The Committee of Management, staff, volunteers and everyone who utilises the centre wish Danny all the very best for the next chapter of his life and thank him for his contributions over the last six years.

Two Fee-Free Courses on Offer for Term 3

DNC are happy to offer two fee free courses for Term 3, with our Introduction to Disability and Aged Care course specifically designed as a pre-employment course for anyone interested in the Aged Care/Disability sector.  The second course is our Computers for the Terrified where we’ll dispel a few IT myths and run over a few of life’s essentials (Facebook, MyGov, Services Victoria)!  Please spread the word if you know anyone who would like to participate in either of these courses.  DNC are able to offer these courses free of charge thanks to ACFE subsidies.

Introduction to Disability & Aged Care.  This fee-free course will cover the care needs of older people and people with disabilities; the human rights of people with disabilities and support needs; and work roles and skills required to support people to live independently.  It will also cover funding, organisation and regulation of aged care and disability services.

DNC Joke of the Week

A rich millionaire decides to throw a massive party at his mansion for his 50th birthday.
During the party he grabs the microphone and he announces to his guests that down in the garden of his mansion he has a swimming pool with two crocodiles in it.

“I will give anything they desire of mine, to the man who swims across that pool.”

So the party continues with no events in the pool, until suddenly, there is a great splash and all the guests run to the pool to see what has happened. In the pool is a man and he is swimming as hard as he can. The water is churning, and the croc tails come out of the water and the jaws are snapping and this guy just keeps on going. The crocodiles are gaining on him and the guy just reaches the end and he claws his way out of the pool, tired and soaked.

The millionaire grabs the microphone and says “I am a man of my word.  Anything of mine – I will give you – my Ferrari, my house, absolutely anything, for you are the bravest man I have ever seen. So, sir what will it be?” the millionaire asks.

The guy grabs the microphone and says: “Let’s start with the name of the person who pushed me in!”

[If you’ve got a better joke, (and doesn’t everyone??) send it to  admin@dncentre.org.au  and we’ll publish it.  (Remember, this is a family publication! 😊).  We’ll even include your name if you wish – or you can protect your anonymity!]
