Booktown is happening from May 1 live and online. From Saturday May 1 & 2 and then next two weekends in May in Clunes.

This well-loved and respected  month long event is happening in a Covid limited  way, after last year’s Covid forced cancellation.  It is an admiral effort and compliment  to re-engage  speakers and discussion  leaders of renown, back to the small regional village of Clunes, and as well participants and astounding  audience numbers of high and enticing calibre. The Clunes event is the only regional village in Australia as member for this international organisation.

Creative Clunes inc; Clunes  Booktown  has managed to re-book some renowned and new authors, and committed discussion leaders who were booked for the cancelled  2020 event  Presenters  such as  Tim Flannery, recently awarded yet again, for his environmental work announced this week. Another in discussion is “ Stealing the Scene” Landscape as Character.

For the Love of Books  is  a discussion about the value  of Book Clubs. To be held in October

Another stimulating  discussion group, the Recovery,  is led by well respected and forthright  Ross Garnaut in conversation with Bill Bowtells,  a foremost health strategist for Australia and internationally and  promises to be informative and stimulating.

See here for the full program and also biographical details of authors and presenters.

Sadly the closed street will not be the site for numerous  book vendors, as in previous Festivals, but they will be available online.

The limitations of Covid safety have also reduced numbers for the two venues, the Town Hall and former Free Lending Library, and so bookings are strongly advised to be made early. These are through trybooking.com.  All events are ticketed.
