Daylesford Riding for the Disabled riders and volunteers are excited to be riding again in 2021.

It took a lot of work and planning on the part of the volunteer committee and coaches to make sure that the horses were ready and that a COVID Safe plan was in place and approved by RDA Victoria. But we did it!

Eleven new volunteers completed an induction program at the end of January and riders started in early February. Riders, ranging in age from 9-75 years quickly picked up on skills that had not been practiced for 11 months.

The Centre hosted two assessors from RDA Australia last week and is now fully accredited. This means that the Centre complies with all RDAA policies and procedures. Both assessors were impressed with the quality of the program noting the developing riding skills of all participants. Assessors were also impressed by the efforts made by RDA volunteers and members of the Daylesford Men’s Shed to adapt the mounting block to help riders mount.

It’s been a difficult time but we’re all looking forward to a full year of riding.
