The Independent Pathways and Living Skills (I-Pals) Program

The Independent Pathways and Living Skills (I-Pals) Program is designed to bring people with a disability together to build skills, confidence and independence. Run in a fun and supportive environment, the program encourages participants to develop their goals for independence whilst making new friendships and connections within their local communities.   All people with a disability over 18 are welcome. This free program is fully funded by the National Disability Insurance Agency but people without an NDIS plan are also eligible to participate at no cost.

The program will run at the Daylesford Neighborhood Centre, Camp St Daylesford , commencing on Friday March 12th  and continuing until the end of June 2021. The program will run from 10 am to 3 pm each Friday. Participation is free and all resources are supplied. Participants are only required to bring their own lunch. The group size is limited to ten participants.   By participating in this free program, participants will:

  • be encouraged and supported to speak up for themselves
  • be given opportunities to grow their confidence and improve their self-esteem
  • be provided with access to information and resources to help with decision making and problem solving
  • be able to develop greater independence and the ability to make new connections in their local communities.

Introduction to Textile Design

Students will gain experience in garment making and understand the steps required to produce a garment of their choice. They will be able to cost, create and wear a variety of designs to suit their budget. Students will be able to seek employment or further training in the textiles industry.

 

Introduction to Reflexology

In this course you will learn how reflex points in the feet or hands can affect other parts of the body and how working on the feet can induce a state of calm. There will be theory and hands-on training.  You may want to improve and build your skills and knowledge as an already qualified therapist or you may be looking at going on to study massage or beauty therapy.
