The Daylesford Neighbourhood Centre hasn’t wasted any time in resuming both recreational and vocational programs in Term 4.
Next week, the following courses are beginning
- On Thursday, 8 October, Certificate 3 in Individual Care (Aging, Home & Community) is being offered online and by Zoom in collaboration with GenU and is free for eligible students
- Eight Silken Movements will be on Mondays at 10.30 from 5 October. This is an easy-to-follow movement class based on elements of Chi Gong and Tai Chi which promotes balance, coordination, flexibility and inner calm and is beneficial for all age groups
- The poetry discussion and workshop will Zoom again at 7.00 on Mondays, starting on 5 October.
Coming up in the next month or so is a series of vocational courses aimed at providing skills for hospitality workers and others
- Friday, 23 October, Food Safety Handler, Level 1
- Tuesday, 27 October, Responsible Service of Alcohol,
- Friday, 6 November, First Aid, Level 2 , or CPR only
The Neighbourhood Centre is also looking for expressions of interest in learning Spanish (Hola!) and the Cert 3 in Horticulture, which would be offered in partnership with Qualify and Edge Training Group.
And they are looking for would-be tutors. If you have a special skill, a secret power or an area of expertise, could teach a language, have a hobby you would like to share or are good with computers, they would love to hear from you, too.
To attend any of the courses you will, of course, need to adhere to COVID-safe guidelines which also means that numbers will be limited by social distancing. For information about what is required, and to find out more about the courses, check the Neighbourhood Centre’s website.
The Centre’s Computer Lab is open for COVID-safe use. Copying and laminating are also available and rooms may now be hired.
