Recently, the Hon Nick Staikos, Victorian State Minister for Local Government, appointed Hepburn Shire Council Mayor, Cr Tony Clark along with 10 other mayors from across Victoria to the 2026 Local Government Mayoral Advisory Panel (LGMAP).

The appointment will be a great opportunity to advocate for issues important to Hepburn Shire and the broader local government sector.

Mayor, Cr Tony Clark, said that he is looking forward to robust, honest conversations with the Minister about the opportunities and challenges that face Hepburn Shire, rural communities and the local government sector.

“Topics that I will be focusing on will be the financial sustainability of rural councils, legislation to safeguard the physical and online safety of Councillors and Council officers, and how local government can have a seat at the table with government on major policy development.”

“I look forward to reporting back to the community on topics discussed and actions taken to secure a better future for the Hepburn Shire,” he said.

Hepburn Shire Council will continue to advocate our region outside of these regular meetings.
