A packed house attended the Daylesford Conversation on activating nature based tourism in the Daylesford district. This was the 6th in the Conversation series run by the Wombat Post and Daylesford Rotary with support from Australia Post.

Bushwalking has long been part of the Daylesford district’s identity, but its potential as a driver of sustainable visitation is only just emerging. This Daylesford Conversation explored

Tim Bach, President of the Great Dividing Trails Association and Adam Ford, the Hepburn Shire Visitor Experience Officer were joined in conversation with MC Robyn Rogers followed by discussion with the audience.

A lively discussion explored how existing assets such as the Great Dividing Trail Network, local walking circuits and the new Wombat–Lerderderg National Park can be better connected, interpreted and supported. The discussion looked at current and future opportunities for nature-based recreation, the role of local and state government, and how walking can strengthen community, protect Country and shape the region’s tourism future.

The next Daylesford Conversation will explore the challenges and road blocks to navigating the clean energy transition in conversation with Dr Bruce Mountain, the inaugural Director of the Victoria Energy Policy Centre and Taryn Lane, from Hepburn Energy on Thursday 16 April 2026 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM at 113 Main Road, Hepburn Springs Vic 3460.
