Daylesford sporting clubs are among the local organisations receiving funding through two Victorian Government programs supporting community sport and road safety.
Daylesford and Hepburn United Soccer Club has been awarded $9,990 through the Sporting Club Grants Program, while Daylesford Football Netball Club will receive $750 through the TAC Club Rewards Program.
The soccer club’s funding comprises $4,990 to develop and upskill volunteer coaches and $5,000 for its Women’s Social Soccer Participation and Pathway Program.
The grants are part of a statewide allocation of more than $1.2 million across 853 grants to sporting clubs, supporting participation, equipment, training and volunteer development.
Member for Macedon Mary-Anne Thomas congratulated 13 recipients in her electorate.
Other recipients in the Macedon electorate include Trentham District Cricket Club, which will receive $1,000 for junior uniforms, and Trentham District Football and Netball Club, which has been awarded $980 for netball pole padding.
Central Highlands Orienteering Club will receive $1,000 for a new defibrillator.
The grants program also supports clubs in Gisborne, Macedon, Riddells Creek, Romsey, Lancefield, Woodend and other communities across the electorate.
A separate road safety initiative is providing $700,000 to 261 Victorian football and netball clubs through the TAC Club Rewards Program, delivered in partnership with AFL Victoria.
The program recognises clubs’ efforts to encourage safer driving among players, volunteers, members and supporters, with an emphasis on reducing speeding.
In addition to Daylesford Football Netball Club’s $750 grant, Macedon electorate recipients include Romsey Junior Football Netball Club ($5,500), Kyneton Football Netball Club ($4,750) and Woodend Hesket Football Netball Club ($2,500).
Gisborne Football Netball Club, Lancefield Junior Football Netball Club and Riddells Creek Junior Football and Netball Club will each receive $750.
The funding can be used for club equipment, facilities and community programs. Participating clubs were asked to promote the road safety message: “Be the Difference. Make the Right Choice. Slow Down on the Road”.
The two programs provide support for local sporting organisations, from developing participation pathways and training volunteers to improving club facilities and encouraging safer behaviour in the wider community.
