Christ Church Concerts has announced a bonus event in its 2025 series – an evening performance by Australian-born violinist Patrick Savage and internationally acclaimed violinist and violist Yuri Zhislin.

The concert, Savage vs Zhislin: Virtuoso String Duet, will be held on Friday 5 September at Christ Church, Daylesford. For the first time, this will be an evening concert. Aperitivo – wine and hot and cold finger food – will be served from 6:00 pm, followed by the concert at 7:00 pm.

Savage, who grew up in Bendigo and is now based in London, is a former principal violinist with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and one of Britain’s leading musicians. His career spans classical performance, film scoring, and collaborations with artists from Burt Bacharach to Paul McCartney. His 2024 album The Golden Age of Hollywood: Concert Works For Violin and Piano was named BBC Music Magazine’s Chamber Music Release of the Month.

Zhislin, described by The Strad as “a virtuoso with a truly Romantic temperament,” is director of the London Tchaikovsky Camerata and professor of violin and viola at the Royal College of Music. He has performed with orchestras around the world, appeared at New York’s Carnegie Weill Hall, and recorded for SOMM, Naxos, and Orchid Classics.

The program will feature works by Mozart, Handel, Halvorsen, Martinů, Glière, Bartók, and Prokofiev, promising a mix of elegance, energy, and virtuosity.
