A strong win by Daylesford Seniors over Clunes has lifted them into contention for the top four as the final round of the home and away season comes to a close. Daylesford trailed 5.0-30 to 5.5-35 at half time but came back strongly kicking four unanswered goals in the fourth quarter to win by 15 points, 10.7-67 to 7.10-52. Andrew Panayi kicked three goals and Chris Molivas kicked two to lead the Bulldogs scoring. Best players on ground were Matthew Dean, Travis Dean, Alex Boyse, John O’Brien, Christopher Molivas, Chris Peart.
Daylesford was lying in 6th position on the ladder going into the round behind Rokewood Corindhap and Newlyn on percentage but both of those sides lost allowing Daylesford to move into 4th. Daylesford face 5th place Newlyn this weekend and could cement their place in the top four with a win.
The Daylesford reserves had a big win over Clunes 10.20-80 to 2.6-18. The under 18s lost 22 to 54; the under 15s won 49 to 20 and the under 12s won 44 to 0.
Across town, Hepburn is coming off a thumping win over Carngham Linton 15.11-101 to 10.9-69. The Burras have had a tough season and last week’s was only their second win from 15 games. However, they have momentum and they’re playing for pride at home this Saturday against 13th place Creswick.
The Hepburn reserves lost 7.2-44 to 10.9-69. The under 18s won 112 to 13; the under 15s had a huge win 145 to 6 as did the under 12s 62 to 0.
Both Daylesford and Hepburn have home games this weekend. Game time is 2:30 at Doug Lindsay Reserve for the Burras and Victoria Park for the Bulldogs. For reserves and juniors game times check the PlayHQ-CHFL website.
In netball, Daylesford and Hepburn are 1 and 2 at the top of the A Grade ladder with Daylesford undefeated after 15 games.
In last week’s games, Daylesford A grade defeated Clunes 74 to 46; B grade won 43 to 23; C grade lost 22 to 31; D grade lost 11 to 32. The under 17s lost 14 to 42; the under 15s won 43 to 18 and the under 13s lost 2 to 14.
Hepburn A grade defeated Carngham 91 to 33. B grade won 41 to 26; C grade won 30 to 20; D grade won 25 to 16. The under 17s lost 18 to 24; the under 15s won 29 to 19 and the under 13s lost 14 to 18.
