In 2019 , with grants from the Daylesford District Community Bank and Hepburn Shire the Daylesford Men’s Shed purchased notebooks and computer aided engraving/cutting/routing equipment. To optimise use of the equipment, Shed member Brian Murphy is running CNC (Computer Numerical Control) training for members.
Brian has extensive experience with the technology and is keen to share his knowledge and experience.
With the Shed having a limited re-opening at the start of June, training started with 2 sessions each Tuesday for members. Two groups of 6 are currently being trained.
Shedder,Colin Dunlop, said “ …. It was great to have hands on training in a familiar environment with fellow Shed members. Although we have varying abilities this is a new area for most of us and it is great to see the guys helping each other.”
Ken Ferguson, who’s skills with routing signs is well know has taken to the new technology with keen interest. Ken said “ … this is a great way for me to get to increase my awareness of computers and their practical uses. Working with the other members is allowing me to use computers in an area of special interest. “
The Men’s Shed has re-open on a limited basis on Mondays and Thursdays (9.30 am until 2 pm ). Covid-19 protocols have been introduced to protect members. It is essential that all members and visitors follow these instructions.
