Hobsons Bay city Council has suspended its CEO, Aaron van Egmond, following a special, unscheduled meeting of Council in January. Mr van Egmond was CEO of Hepburn Shire Council for six years before announcing his resignation and departure from Hepburn in March 2018 and taking up the position at Hobson’s bay.
Cr Daria Kellander, Mayor of Hobsons Bay City Council, released a statement indicating that:
“Councillors became aware of concerns about safety in the workplace and the CEO’s fulfilment of his duties more broadly. Councillors take these matters very seriously and have made this decision following thorough and careful consideration, pending further investigations.”
The Hobson’s Ban Council would not elaborate on the suspension of Mr van Egmond given the sensitivity of the matters.
