Victor Szwed
Daylesford Rotary has four members taking turns to lead the Club during 2024-25. Usually a Rotary President takes on this important role for a year. This year three past Presidents and one other member agreed to share the responsibilities.
In July Victor Szwed took on the President role for three months followed by Danny Moynihan, Koos Hulst and Lesley Hewitt.
Current President, Danny Moynihan ssid, “Daylesford Rotary was established 71 years ago and is the last Service Club in Daylesford after a number of others folded over the past decade or so. Our Club is seeking new members and supporters to ensure that we can continue to serve our community for years to come. We typically provide around $20,000 each year towards community projects and needs.”
“Many locals would have visited the Daylesford Art Show over the Cup Day long-weekend. We raised just over $16,000 from this event and most of that will be used to support local community needs with some to go to support worthy projects elsewhere in Australia and overseas. Recently we donated $3,000 towards the Live4Life program at Daylesford Secondary College.”
Danny added, “Other projects we have recently supported include $2,000 towards the RSL Avenue of Honour sign to commemorate 260 people who served in the first World War. In November we hosted a guest speaker to talk about a refuge facility for Women and Children in Bali. More than twenty people attended and $2,550 was raised to support this facility in a country where there are very limited services or assistance for women and children in desperate need.”
Daylesford Rotary Club welcomes interest from locals to find out what the Club does. Please contact Danny Moynihan on 0407 501 994 to find out more.
