DNC Signs up to be a Donation Partner with the Container Deposit Scheme

Do you have bottles and containers that you can recycle? DNC would like to work with you and would be grateful of your donations.

We have recently signed up as a Donation Partner with the Container Deposit Scheme.  This means we can accept donations of refunds from anyone who wishes to donate to a charity.  Next time you have a few bottles to take to the recycle station, if you would like to donate your refund to a local group, you can now select DNC as the recipient.

To send your donation through to DNC

  1. Download the  CDS VicWest App from the appstore
  2. Search Charities in Searchbox and select DNC
  3. Once you have found the DNC page, scroll down and click on the SET AS PAYOUT button!
  4. At the recycle station, scan your barcode at the scanner, pop your bottles in and that’s it!

Simple!

If you are part of a local group and would like to support DNC with your refunds, we would be very grateful of any donations and happy to chat to you further if you would like to do something officially with your group.   We can help with flyers etc.  Just call us and we’d be happy to work with you!

The cost is a $2.00 donation at the door.

Changed Hours of Business for DNC

DNC has changed our reception hours.  Our new hours came into effect from Monday 26th August.

Mon – Thurs 9am-3pm
Fri Closed

As always, room hire bookings will still be available after hours with a code, so if you currently have a room hire booking, that will not change.

The new hours may or may not affect you, but if you have any questions about accessing or leaving the centre during or after hours, please make sure to contact us on 53483569.

We don’t believe this will inconvenience your activity at the Centre, but please do let us know if you have any concerns.

DNC Joke of the Week

This is a story of a group of chess enthusiasts, good friends all, who had a long day of chess matches.  Late in the evening these friends went to the lobby of the large hotel where the matches were held, to talk a bit and rest.  While their chat began quietly it gathered steam and got quite animated.  They were telling each other of their successes of the day.

One said he had won so many matches, another told of how he had beaten better players than himself.  All the others skited about their castling and their checkmates.

After a while of this, the hotel manager came over and summarily threw them all out, saying, “I can’t abide chess nuts boasting in an open foyer.”

[If you’ve got a better joke, (and doesn’t everyone??) send it to  admin@dncentre.org.au  and we’ll publish it. (Remember, this is a family publication! 😊).  We’ll even include your name if you wish – or you can protect your anonymity!]
