Local Community groups were big winners at this week’s Council meeting with Towards Zero and Community Grants being awarded.
Toward Zero Community Grants
A total of almost $45,000 was awarded to three local organisations under the Towards Zero community grants program.
The Daylesford Museum Reserve Committee of Management received $11,000 to install 10.5 kW of solar panels on the recently re-roofed museum building.
Daylesford RSL received $10,000 for a similar project to install 7.8 kW of solar panels on the RSL building at the other end of Vincent Street.
The Doxa Youth Foundation, which runs camps for disadvantaged children at their camp near Malmsbury, received $24,000 for an 11.7 kW off-grid solar system.
Community Grants
Hepburn Community Radio received a grant of $2,034 to purchase equipment to enable FM boradcasting equipment. Currently HCR only provides a digital broadcasting service but they have obtained the rights to use the local FM radio license, 88.0 FM. Additional funding required for equipment and HCR is hopeful it can raise the balance from other sources.
The Hepburn Shire Unit of the Victoria State Emergency Service received $2,125 to run a Community Open Day.
Daylesford Girl Guides received $1,360 for the purchase of ovens and the Daylesford Men’s Shed will purchase a drum sader with their $1,650 grant.
New Grants Open
The Community Grants Program provides $65,000 funding annually to community groups and organisations. Community Grants are offered four times throughout the year and round 1 for the 2022/23 financial year is now open. Applications close on Wednesday July 20.
Community groups and organisations can apply under categories that align with the Council Plan for up to $2,500. Read the guidelines for the Community Grants Program(PDF, 600KB).
