Council has recently gone through an IT equipment renewal phase and has replaced many laptop and desktop computers.

These have donated these devices to Flash Drive, local a non-profit registered charity based in Ballarat which is committed to reusing and recycling electronic devices.

Flash Drive aims to make technology accessible and affordable, and make the disposal of technology environmentally sustainable. The group provide eWaste management and collection, computer repairs and support, and the sale of high-quality, refurbished, second-hand computers.

They are an accredited Microsoft Registered Refurbisher servicing the Central Highlands region. They offer high-quality second-hand computers at affordable prices for people who may be experiencing disadvantage and want to improve their digital literacy.

The computers and laptops will be available in the next month or so depending on how quickly the Flash Drive dedicated team of volunteers can securely erase data from the devices and install any required software.

If you would like to enquire about the purchase of one of this equipment, please contact Flash Drive on (03) 5339 9537 or enquiries@flashdrive.org.au

This is a great example of Council delivering on its Council Plan commitment – A resilient, sustainable and protected environment by reducing landfill through effective E-Waste management.
