Daylesford Football Netball Club has three sides playing in Grand Finals this weekend. Senior and Under 18s football sides and the A Grade netball side will contest premierships. Even longstanding supporters have said that this is the best success the club has seen for a very long time.

“We’ve been building towards success for many years,” said club President, Carson White. “My philosophy has always been that you build a strong club from the back end first. Without great volunteers, coaches, supporters, sponsors and families, it’s very hard to achieve any success on the netball court or football oval. I feel the club has turned a corner this year and this vision is starting to become a reality.

“As a result we are now seeing success on the netball court and footy field. What I’m most proud of is that we have been able to build participation in all grades of both football and netball, junior and senior. The strong clubs all seem to do this very well. I’m hopeful now that future leaders of the club can build something even stronger on top of this foundation.”

Daylesford Bulldogs Senior football side advanced to their Grand Final with a 6.10-46 to 2.9-21 win over Skipton in their semi-final last weekend.

Skipton got away to a fast start and led at the first change 2.5-17 to 1.0-6. However, Daylesford held Skipton goalless in the next three quarters while they kicked another 5 goals 10. Trent Lee, Cameron Lee and Ben Jones kicked two goals each.

Daylesford will meet Bungaree in the Grand Final starting at 2:45 pm on Saturday, September 14, at MARS stadium in Ballarat.

In A Grade netball, Hepburn and Daylesford won their respective semi-finals to advance to a Grand Final against one another. Hepburn defeated Beaufort 69-58. Daylesford defeated Learmonth 42-39. The two local teams will meet in a Grand Final starting at 3:00 pm on Saturday September 14 at Mars Stadium in Ballarat.

Daylesford Under 18s also advanced to a Grand Final with a convincing win over Buninyong 11.12-78 to 6.8-44. Daylesford will meet Springbank starting at 10:05 am on Saturday, September 14, at MARS stadium in Ballarat.

“I encourage all of Daylesford to get out to MARS stadium and support our teams,” said Carson White. “Let’s hope we can bring home three Premierships to the town!”
