The Boathouse at Lake Daylesford is an iconic feature of the local landscape and the subject of countless photographs. Few, however, capture the Lake and the Boathouse in the last light of a winter’s day. This photo by Mark Rak is darker and captures the scene in a completely different light with a softer and more subtle palette, not unlike Fred McCubbin’s “A Winter Evening” or Tom Roberts’ “Evening, when the quiet east flushes faintly at the sun’s last look”.
