Council CEO Resigns

The Hepburn Shire Council CEO Bradley has resigned after five years. He joined the Council in 2019 and became CEO in 2021.

Mayor Cr Tony Clark thanked Mr Thomas for his leadership and contribution to Council and the Hepburn Shire community.

“I want to sincerely thank Bradley for his many years of contribution to our community. Joining Council in 2019, he has led a dedicated team and provided informative and clear advice to Councillors over his tenure. Bradley has been instrumental in commencing the major change program to shift the organisation towards financial sustainability,” he said.

Mr Thomas said it had been a privilege to serve the Hepburn Community.

“I am incredibly proud of the way our staff have worked togeter to delivery outcomes for our community.” he said.

Mr Thomas’ period as CEO has spanned a number of difficult issues, including the sale of the Rex, significant financial pressures, legal challenges and community volatility and dissatisfaction with Council performance. 

In announcing his resignation Mr Thomas said, “My hope is that the community can work together to support each other and council, and recognise the great work that is carried out across our shire.”

Mr Thomas’ resignation will take effect Friday 21 August 2026.

Cr Clarke has indicated that Council will commence a search for a new CEO in coming months.
