Preview of Infrastructure Projects at DNC in 2024

DNC staff and Committee of Management are in discussion with Working Heritage Victoria (WHV), the ‘owners’ of our site, to upgrade our facilities.  Projects being considered include:

  • Disability-compliant access from courthouse driveway to courthouse front door (south) and compliant            paths around west of building connecting to refurbished BBQ area and the northern courthouse entry
  • Upgrade the historic steps at the street to the front (west) of the courthouse
  • Refurbishment of existing ramps providing compliant access to external toilets and laundry facility plus          compliant able-bodied stairs.
  • Provision of external lift platform providing compliant access to Paddock Room.
  • Provision of compliant toilet to the Paddock Room
  • Provision of new car park at top of hill to provide improved access to the police residence and lock up.

These are exciting projects which, if they come to fruition, will greatly enhance access, utilisation and enjoyment of the Centre for all of our community.  We are greatly looking forward to working with WHV next year.

DNC Joke of the Week

A man is walking through the country when he spots a sign that reads “Talking Horse for Sale.” Intrigued, he walks up to the stable to check it out.

“So what have you done with your life?” he asks the horse.

“I’ve led a full life,” the horse answers miraculously. “I was born in The Andes where I helped farm for an entire village.

“Years later, I joined the mounted police force in New York and helped keep the city clean and safe. Now, I spend my days volunteering for charities and giving free rides to underprivileged kids here in the country.”

The guy is flabbergasted. He asks the horse’s owner “Why on earth would you want to get rid of such an incredible animal?”

The owner says “Because he’s a liar. He never did any of that stuff!”

[If you’ve got a better joke, (and doesn’t everyone??) send it to  admin@dncentre.org.au  and we’ll publish it. (Remember, this is a family publication! 😊).  We’ll even include your name if you wish – or you can protect your anonymity!]
