Honeytones Choir

Group singing is a great way to express yourself and to connect with others. Studies show that it provides a multitude of social and health benefits. As a choir, we will sing in a range of musical styles, working together to bring the songs we are learning to life and to continually develop our musical and singing skills.

Who is it for?  Anyone 15 or over. No singing or note-reading experience needed!

Art for Expression and a Better Life:  (Trentham)
Tue, 17 Oct, 10:00 AM – 11:30 AM (8 WEEKS)

This 8-week program is for anyone interested in creating a richer life experience through art making. With a focus on watercolour and ink, we will be exploring materials and techniques whilst discovering how the practice of making art will positively inform the rest of your day.  Throughout the course we will be:

  • exploring colour mixing and looking at how to use colour for impact
  • mark making and line work
  • sketching from life, from photos and from your imagination
  • building a playful workbook of ideas and methods to carry you beyond the class and into your own practice and given the time of year, if you choose, making unique and meaningful seasonal gifts.

A 50% subsidised starter pack of specially curated materials will be provided as part of the course fee, so all you need to do on the day is show up and be prepared to jump in.

Please note: This course is running at the Trentham Neighbourhood Centre.  A SIMILAR Course will run at the Daylesford Neighbourhood Centre.  Further information about all our courses are now up on the DNC Website under the COURSES tab.   Feel free to call us on 53483569 if you have any questions about anything.

DNC Joke of the Week

Albert Einstein had to speak at an important science conference. On the way there, he tells his driver (who looks a bit like him): “I’m sick of all these conferences. I always say the same things over and over!”

The driver agrees: “You’re right. As your driver, I have attended all of them, and even though I don’t know anything about science, I could give the conference in your place.”

“That’s a great idea!” says Einstein. “Let’s switch places then!”

So they switch clothes and as soon as they arrive, the driver dressed as Einstein goes on stage and starts giving the usual speech, while the real Einstein, dressed as the car driver, sits up the back. But in the crowd there is one scientist (probably a graduate student) who wants to impress everyone and thinks of a very difficult question to ask Einstein, hoping he won’t be able to respond.

So this guy stands up and poses his very difficult question. The whole room goes silent, holding their breath, waiting for the response. The driver looks at him, dead in the eye, and says: “Sir, your question is so easy to answer that I’m going to let my driver, sitting up the back, reply to it for me.”

[If you’ve got a better joke, (and doesn’t everyone??) send it to  admin@dncentre.org.au  and we’ll publish it. (Remember, this is a family publication! 😊).  We’ll even include your name if you wish – or you can protect your anonymity!]
