The annual Mollongghip Poetry Slam will be an online event again this year on Saturday November 13 at 7:30.
It usually sees a hundred or more people crowding the venerable Mollongghip Hall on the edge of Wombat Forest but, because of COVID restrictions, the performers and spectators will be lounging in the comfort of their own homes again this year.
The slam has been a much-loved annual event since 2004. It was the Hepburn Shire Community Event of the Year in 2017.
The event is limited to 30 poets. the first 30 to enter will “get the gig”. Each poet has a time limit of two minutes (strictly enforced!) to recite their creation. All poems must include the phrase “Turning Point”. Entrants must register by October 31 with Slam MC, Mark Grant via email at mollonsship01@bigpond.com.
If you simply want to attend, you are invited to join Zoom for a “pre-poetry glass of your choice” from 7.00. Contact Mark for a Zoom link.
It sounds like just what we need to cheer us up after another long, cold, wet and windy COVID winter.
