The Wombat Forest Vineyard has been nominated into the 2021 Community Achievement Awards for Regional Victoria.
In rural and regional areas, successful businesses are making important economic contributions.
The Regional Development Victoria Business Achievement Award will acknowledge and highlight the continued success and achievements of business leaders and businesses.
The Wombat Forest Vineyard celebrates 25 years in 2022. The winery is renowned for producing award winning premium handcrafted wines, environmentally friendly practices, country hospitality, friendly service and a picturesque bush setting.
They pride themselves on creating their own niche, developing a reputation for producing premium hand crafted wines. Their wine displays classic cool climate characteristics derived from an extended ripening period.
They are also horse friendly by appointment with an open area below their bottom courtyard available to tether horses so riders can enjoy a glass of wine and platter before riding back home.
This is a family run vineyard, winery and cellar door. Family members help out with work in all settings between the vineyard, winery and cellar door when they can. They also employ local casual staff working on weekends and for music events in the cellar door.
The business is actively involved in a range of local activities.
The winery hosts an annual Local’s Day with live music to say thank you to the people who have supported them along the way and to provide an opportunity to raise money for the local fire brigade. They engage with the Glenlyon District News for local advertising and personally carry out letter drops for a 10-15 km radius to inform locals of events at the winery.
