Council is calling on the Shire community to nominate inspiring local women for the Heather Mutimer Honour Roll.
The Honour Roll was established in 2005 to pay tribute to the women in the Hepburn Shire whose contributions, courage and example have led to significant social change for women.
Each year as part of International Women’s Day, outstanding local women are celebrated and added to the Honour Roll. The roll provides an opportunity to acknowledge women who have made a difference in our Shire.
The Honour Roll is made up of women from all walks of life and they have contributed to every aspect of the lives of women and our community. You can read all their stories on the Honour Roll webpage.
The four 2020 inductees, Arlene Geoffrey, Dallas Kinnear, Loretta Little and Sarah Glenny, are good representatives of the way women maintain and strengthen our community. Their activities include maintaining the Glenlyon Telegraph office under threat of bushfire, establishing theatre groups for young people, developing cinemas, and defending the Shire’s environment and public places.
By acknowledging these women, past and present, we create role models for generations to come.
If you know a woman who you think deserves to be recognised, please visit the Women’s Honour Roll page to find out how you can nominate them:
Nominations close on 5 October 2020.
