The Hepburn Swiss Italian Festa was a popular annual event for 25 years until its cancellation in 2018. We are delighted that it will return in October 2021.
The Victorian Government via Visit Victoria is funding the development of a three-year event strategy to assist in restarting the Festa and ensuring its sustainability into the future. A Request for Quote (RFQ) tender has recently been released by the Hepburn Shire Council to seek out an appropriately experienced regional events strategy consultant to assist the Festa Committee with the strategy development process.
In addition to the $10,000 provided for the three-year strategy, Visit Victoria is providing $20,000 towards the running costs of the next Festa.
The Festa Committee had to postpone the revival of the Festa in 2020 due to Covid-19, like events all over the world, and Visit Victoria advised the grant would be now available in 2021. However, the Committee realised that the cancellation of the Festa gave us a great opportunity to use the time to think more creatively about the future of the Festa. Visit Victoria and Hepburn Shire Council agreed to release $10,000 of the original grant this year so that we could use this time to commence the strategic planning.
We are lucky to have such a rich history in our region that is still so evident in the architecture, street signs, mineral waters, food and wine. We’re looking forward to building on Festa traditions and finding for new ways to celebrate that Swiss Italian legacy with locals and visitors in 2021 and beyond.
There is very keen interest across the region and from Visit Victoria to ensure that the Festa is not only revived in October 2021, but remains an ongoing and growing festival for many years to come. A three-year strategy will provide a solid basis to help ensure the longevity of the Festa.
The RFQ was released late last week and will close on Friday 4th September at 5:00pm. Here’s the link – if you have the experience and knowledge in developing a strategy for a regional festival, or know someone who does, we would welcome responses to the RFQ.
