With almost forty Agricultural Shows in Victoria, including Clunes and Kyneton already cancelled The Daylesford and District Agricultural Society has decided to make their decision on July 8th and announce it on Thursday July 9th.
Society President Don Harvey has said that , “It has been a very anxious time but at this stage the health protocols; insurance problems, and uncertainty surrounding competitor and crowd numbers are all weighing heavily on the organising group. Although we were looking forward to a great show the reality is that this will be very difficult to put on this year.”
“We have the benefit of a very late date, Saturday November 28th, but we do not think we can have the kind of show we had in the past if any of the current crowd limitations, social distancing and hand sanitation requirements remain in place. To some extent the decision is being made for us by these strange circumstances but we decided last month to make the decision at our July meeting. Even how that meeting can be held is difficult to plan”, Mr Harvey said. “We have promised an announcement on July 9th and that is about as late as we could possibly delay our decision. We just hope the way forward may look a bit clearer by then.”
